> Chuck Arrington from DVD Talk gave the film a mixed review, criticizing the film's acting and dialogue, calling it "painful", but also wrote that the film was funny enough to merit renting it.[17] StompTokyo.com gave the film a negative review, criticizing the film's poor quality special effects, calling it "cartoonish".[18] In his book VideoHound's Golden Movie Retriever, Jim Craddock awarded the film one out of four bones

2.7 / 10 on IMDB. 13% popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes. Sounds like a real monster! Reptilian (Yonggary) (1999) is the movie for this Sunday's "[monsterdon](https://wiki.neuromatch.social/Monsterdon)" watch party over on Mastodon, our fediverse sibling!

- Just start watching that movie this Sunday, May 10 at 9pm ET / 8pm CT / 6pm PT which is 1am Monday UTC
- and follow #monsterdon over on mastodon for live text commentary. For example, you can follow that hashtag here: https://mastodon.social/tags/monsterdon
- I usually open two web browser windows side-by-side on a computer. But you could follow the mastodon commentary on a phone app while watching the movie on TV or something.

VERSION NOTE:

- So way back in 1967 there was a Korean-Japanese movie with Korean actors called "Yongary, Monster of the Deep" - that is NOT the movie we are watching, tho you can find it online.
- Then in 1999 a South Korean company released a new version of that movie, called "Yonggary" with Western actors and relased it in theaters - that is NOT the movie we're watching and it seems pretty hard/impossible to find online anyway.
- In 2001 Yonggary was re-released. They re-did several special effects, added couple more scenes, and called it "Yonggary: the 2001 Upgrade Edition" or "Reptilian" and that IS the version we're watching.

How to watch the movie:
