> Warning, im autistic about this subject.

> Everything in this article is wrong.

> Starting off with the first major subject immigration. Immigration is not a long term solution to this problem, as immgrant source countries are quickly running into the same problem. Over the last decade Latin America, the previous big source of immigrants to the US is seeing their birth rates collapse the same way Europe, NA, and East Asia already have. We are seeing similar trends across the Middle East. Immigrants will eventually run out or be prevented from emigrating. The author even mentions this being a global issue later in the article. This isn't even going into the general issues immigration has in terms of worker well being. negative fertility impacts immigrants have on existing native people, and even how much they contribute, given many countries beyond the US do not even see economic gains from many of their high fertility immigrants. So thats a non starter and basically makes up half the article.

> Second, while capitaloids are obviously commenting a lot on this, it is an issue regardless of how much you dislike them, even if its for different reasons.

> A. We do live in a capitalist system, and assuming this does not change the general impact of that system not seeing this growth would probably lead to very austerity mentioned to an even higher level, and this is not a cover. Of course i dont agree with this morally etc, it is obvious that the ruling class dealing with an economic death spiral would probably further consolidate their power resulting in a disastrous situation for regular people.

> B. Non-capitalist countries also have major issues with this since most economies of all modern types do require things like workers contributing to pensions and keeping things functioning. If someone wants to enlighten me with some esoteric facts i'd welcome it, but im not familiar with the marxist solution to a declining population and the issues described here, at least in modern levels where it seems to be inevitable.

> Now of course, i do not agree the entire purpose of people's lives should just be to keep the retirement home working, but its a legitimate issues regardless of this. Japan's productivity has been maintained due to fake-economy but more importantly because this birth issues actually has not reached critical mass yet, as decades go on there may be 1 working person for every 4 old people or more, this is not going to be a productive economy or sustainable even if it is productive, so bad example. Im all for owning the boomers, but we kind of need to figure out and resolve the whole 'people refusing to do a very basic essential function to keep the species alive' thing regardless of boomers since it represents a non-functional and diseased society.

> Then you have the deeper systemic issues with a declining population that are not purely economic but related. If you don't have enough young people, industries will shut down and get shittier due to a lack of scaling, there will be less available people to fill critical positions to maintain infrastructure and provide care for the inverted population pyramid's top, etc. Taxing billionaires does not solve the problem of there literally not being people who exist to fill roles. Maybe automation will fix it, but we have no definitive proof yet. With no magic solution, the lack of being able to maintain society and scale things will be further detrimental to the birth rate.

> Lastly, the feminism stuff. I do not blame feminism as a whole, but its undeniable that there is a certain demographic of women growing in numbers who are basically propagandized into thinking corporate drudgery is female liberation, and this combined with the tiktok culture of living for 'experiences' and other assorted nihilism is in fact the biggest contributors to the problem. Financial problems at the ground level are an issue, but this phenomenon is occurring across nearly all cultures classes and economic systems more and more, and the 'capitalism' element is largely this culture and lifestyle created by capitalism, which is also advocated for by liberals usually on the opposite end of this such as this author. Simply put, children are always going to be a detriment to doing whatever you want, and a culture which places individual choices above everything will inherently be incoherent to children.

> Also side note, saying 'well, hitler celebrated mothers too' is pretty hilarious
