Is it just me, or does anyone else think that Odysee would be a *perfect* fit for the Nostr protocol?
Hear me out.
Odysee already leans heavily into:
Crypto-native infrastructure
Creator monetization and boosts
Decentralization ethos
Resistance to deplatforming
User ownership principles
Those values line up really closely with what Nostr is trying to do — decentralized identity (pubkeys), relay-based distribution, censorship resistance, Lightning-native payments (zaps), etc.
___
If Odysee integrated with or transitioned toward Nostr:
Creator identities could be portable across the broader Nostr ecosystem
Video posts could propagate across relays
Boosts/zaps could tie into Lightning more seamlessly
It could position itself as the YouTube “video layer” of Nostr
___
Right now, if someone wants a decentralized YouTube alternative, the usual answers are:
PeerTube (Fediverse-based)
Odysee (LBRY-based)
But Nostr doesn’t really have a dominant video platform yet. Odysee already has the infrastructure, userbase, and crypto alignment.
___
So I’m curious:
Would this even be technically feasible?
Would it undermine Odysee, or could it complement it?
Would you prefer Odysee stay on its current path, or evolve toward broader protocol interoperability?
Is protocol alignment (Nostr, Fediverse, etc.) even something Odysee should prioritize?
___
Genuinely curious what this community thinks.
